Button-Board.com is a product that I created a few years back and have been marketing online for a few months. It is a digital version of the wall-mounted In/Out board that uses Flash Player (built on Flex 2). The server was created in .NET (C#) and runs on a sever in XMission's datacenter. Give it a try... it's pretty cool.

Composite Solutions, LLC. www.composite-solutions.com

Composite Solutions is a composite manufacturing company in Salt Lake City who wanted a website that stood out above all its competition. The website is Flash based and also has a low bandwidth version for non-broadband visitors. I made this about 5 years ago so it's a bit dated.

MMT Observatory Catalog Visualization Tool

This catalog visualization tool is a Flex App that is used by scientists who use the MMT's 6.5m telescope to aid in star selection. The observer submits a catalog (see next page below) of stars prior to their observation run and this tool parses their catalog and overlays the stars on a 360 degree all-sky camera image. As the earth rotates, the overlayed stars update in real-time to show where in the sky the star is located. This is useful to avoid pointing the telescope into the wind or into clouds or too close to the horizon. Click here for more info.

MMT Observatory Catalog Submission

This is a simple looking page for the MMT Observatory but under the hood is a lot of AJAX and SOAP. Observing scientists use this page to build a catalog of stars which they will submit to the observatory used to point the telescope during their scheduled run. The page uses SOAP connections to a web server in France (SIMBAD) to convert star names into RA/DEC coordinates (used for telescope tracking). There is a lot of error checking code to ensure proper formatting as well as ability to come back and edit the catalog at a later time. Once the catalog is submitted, the observer receives a link to the visualization tool (see above). Click here for more info.

MMT Observatory Service Tracking System

The MMT Service Tracking System is similar to a bug-tracking tool, but it's customized for a very large telescope and all of its support equipment and personnel. The backend is a custom MySQL database. It is a session based web application and utilizes SSL security features. Click here for more information.

Radius Engineering's Customer Portal is a database driven site designed completely from scratch as an aid in colaborating with customers on large projects. The customer portal allows for project status updates, image libraries, file storage, and messageboard. The site is secured with SSL (same security as credit card payment pages) and logins are controlled and logged via a user database. Macromedia ColdFusion was used for this project.
